The Agristar Inc. group of companies has been serving the
food industry from Alberta, Canada
since 1965.
Since this time, Agristar has expanded its operations and now includes a
potato dehydration facility at Vauxhall, Alberta, and a fresh pack potato operation at Vauxhall, Alberta.
Agristar Inc. is a privately owned Canadian company with
head offices located in Calgary,
Alberta. Founded in 1965, Agristar has
long-standing relationships with more than 40 potato growers, and an
established list of customers around the globe. Our stringent quality standards and
steadfast research and development practices allow us to provide both fresh
and dehydrated potatoes of the utmost quality.

Over the past 40 years, Agristar has grown
from being a local potato operation to a multi-location entity which
dominates the fresh pack potato industry and the dehydrated potato industry
in Western Canada. From the grower to the
consumer's table, Agristar's commitment to
fairness, service and quality has made Agristar Inc. the company that
stands for excellence and dependability in the food industry.
We source our potatoes from prime farmland
in southeastern Alberta, Canada. The area’s high altitude, long and warm
summer days, cool nights, ideal soil composition and abundant water supply
(provided by state-of-the-art irrigation systems) consistently produces top
quality potatoes.
Agristar’s mission is to
provide the best potato products that nature has to offer.
Our fresh pack potato operation is capable of packaging 60,000 tons of
potatoes per year for the retail and food service markets. In addition to
growing our own potatoes, Agristar contracts potatoes in three provinces
and two states to ensure a source of high quality potatoes year-round.
Our dehydrated potato operation is capable
of producing eight
million pounds of dehydrated potatoes per year. Agristar potato granules are made using
the Add-Back method – a gentle dehydration process that breaks fresh cooked
potatoes down to individual cells.
Our granules are characterized by a consistent fine texture. By utilizing Add-Back technology, we are
able to keep the wall of each potato cell intact, which in turn keeps the
amount of free-starch very low.
Agristar potato granules never produce the “gluey” consistency
common to other types of potato products such as flakes and flour.
